That PERFECT Gift!

We all search for that PERFECT GIFT for our loved ones at Christmas time. This tradition goes all the way back to the First Christmas when Christ was born. The Wisemen brought gifts to our Lord when He was around 2 yrs old. BUT, THAT PERFECT GIFT to ALL mankind was BORN that first Christmas Night!

James 1:7 says, "Every good GIFT  and every PERFECT GIFT is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." 

On that first Christmas, God the Father gave the world 3 gifts as well, just as the Wisemen did 2 yrs later. 

The first gift was : Jesus Christ Himself!! "For God SO LOVED the world, that HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON..." John 3:16. Just as James 1:7 says, God the Father send His perfect gift of God in the flesh, EMMANUEL, to dwell among men. "And the WORD was made flesh, and dwelt mong us, (and we behold HIS GLORY as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth." John 1:14.

The second gift was: Eternal Life!!! "...BUT the GIFT OF GOD  is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23b. God's salvation is a GIFT that ONLY HE CAN GIVE!! It CANNOT BE EARNED! It has to be personally accepted by everyone of us in order to receive it, just as we receive gifts from others at Christmas!

The third gift was:  The Holy Spirit! "If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children: HOW MUCH MORE shall your Heavenly Father GIVE  the Holy Spirit to them that ask HIM?" Luke 1:13. When we decide to receive God's gift of Eternal Life and ask Him for it, the Lord also at that same moment gives us the gift of the HOLY SPIRIT, our Comforter! He then indwells us forever! John 15: 26 & 27. What a gift, to know that the Saviour is ours PERSONALLY, AND HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US!!! Hebrews 13:5. 

This Chrismas as you exchange gifts, REMEMBER THE TRUE GIFT OF GOD!!!  JESUS CHRIST THE BABE, THE SON OF GOD, BECAME THE SON OF MAN, DIED FOR YOU, ROSE FROM THE GRAVE, AND IS NOW KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, ON THE THRONE OF THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD THE FATHER!!! THIS is the PERFECT GIFT FOR YOU this Christmas!! If you have already received Him, thank HIM FOR COMING FOR YOU AND GIVING HIMSELF FOR YOU, AND COMING INTO YOUR HEART!! If you haven't received Him as your Saviour, YOUR PERSONAL PERFECT GIFT, there is no better gift to give back to HIM than YOUR HEART AND TO ASK HIM FOR HIS PERFECT GIFT OF SALVATION!! "FOR WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the LORD SHALL BE SAVED." Romans 10: 13. GOD TELLS NO ONE NO!! THERE IS NO ONE THAT IS TOO SINFUL, OR THAT HE DOES NOT LOVE!! This Christmas we can ALL HAVE THAT PERFECT GIFT!!!! Do you have that PERFECT GIFT FROM ABOVE?????

Catching Your Second Wind

We all know the phrase "Catching your second wind." There is more to it than just words, or referring to getting a break and re-energizing. The LORD has been dealing with me personally about this post.

Gen.2:7 tells us that, " the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and BREATHED INTO HIS NOSTRILS THE BREATH OF LIFE, and man became a living soul." Human life LITERALLY started with the breath of God. Adam would have just been a life-less body without it. Ever since, ALL humans have breath that gives us PHYSICAL life. THIS is our FIRST WIND. We have all been born physically, BUT have YOU been born SPIRITUALLY? Have you caught your SECOND WIND???

Ezekial 37: 8-12 tells of the vision of the valley of dry bones. These were a picture of the scattered children of Israel that the Lord was once again going to raise up into a nation once more. It tells of them being brought up out of their graves (vs12), the Lord putting the bones together, then muscles, and then covering with skin. Even after He created the bodies, there was NO BREATH IN THEM. They were  human beings, but no life was there. The children of Israel had once been created a nation, but because of their sin and rebellion, the Lord had judged their sin, and they were scattered among the nations. Sin had ruined what the Lord had originally made. Is this not what sin did to us spiritually? "For the wages of SIN IS DEATH..." Romans 6:23a. BUT thank the Lord HE followed that by "BUT the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE through JESUS CHRIST our LORD." Romans 6 23b. The Lord made a way to pull US out of the grave of death and give us ETERNAL LIFE! Ezk. 37: 8 & 9 says that the Lord told Ezekial to, " prophesy unto THE WIND, and to Come from the four winds, O Breath, and breathe upon these slain, THAT THEY MAY LIVE. " In order for us to live again Spiritually as well, we HAVE to have the breath of the Holy Spirit breathed into us by the Lord Jesus Himself!!! "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to HIS MERCY HE SAVED US, by the washing of regeneration, and RENEWING of the HOLY GHOST:" Titus 3:5 All we have to do is agree with God and realize we are sinners and are dead spiritually. We receive our "Second Wind" by simply asking the Lord for it! "Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Matthew 7:8& 9. Are you soooo weighted down by sin today that you literally feel that you can't BREATHE???? Call out to God for your "SECOND WIND" and by HIS WORD, HE HAS PROMISED TO SAVE YOU! He will FREELY breathe into your nostrils THE NEW LIFE OF SALVATION!!!!

If you HAVE already received your second wind, we STILL need the breath of the Holy Spirit to keep us going!!! In John 20:19-23, the Lord had risen from the dead and bought our salvation! He was appearing to the disciples that were gathered together in fear and dismay. They were still trying to understand the events of the last week and were physically and spiritually drained. Do we as Christians not feel the same way when we go through daily life and service for the Lord? We can EASILY become wearied and worn and feel that we need a break or reviving. We need to "catch our second wind SPIRITUALLY" for SERVICE AGAIN, not SALVATION. Since the Lord had just finished salvation, the disciples didn't yet have the Holy Ghost. In verse 22 the Lord " breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost." The disciples were already saved, but were receiving the Holy Ghost because of this set time period. When the Lord called them and they believed BY FAITH, He hadn't yet died on the cross, and the Holy Spirit couldn't have come on them and STAYED. Now that Salvation was finished, He could give them the Comforter PERMANENTLY. (John 14:16-19). When we ask the Lord to save us now, we immediately receive the Holy Spirit, which is our seal unto the day of redemption, Eph 4:30. Just as the Lord was giving the disciples the power to go forth into the service He had called them into, we HAVE to have the Lord's breath of power from the Holy Ghost to do the same!!!! Eph. 5:18 tells us to be filled with the Spirit! We need to die to OURSELVES DAILY and LIVE BY THE SPIRIT TO SERVE THE LORD THROUGH HIS POWER!!! II Corinthians 5:15.

If you are reading this, you obviously have your first wind. BUT, have YOU PERSONALLY received your SECOND WIND? Has the LORD breathed into your soul SALVATION??? If not, TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!!! II Corinthians 6:2 Call out to the Lord for forgiveness of sins, and HE HAS PROMISED TO SAVE YOU!!! If you have your Spiritual Second wind, do you need to ask for a "fresh breath" from the Lord for service? Are you tired and need reviving? The Lord NEVER asked us to serve in our strength, but in HIS BREATH OF POWER!!! Steal away and shut the prayer closet door to ask the Lord to breath on you the Second Wind of Reviving, for HIS POWER FOR SERVICE!!!! So, HAVE YOU CAUGHT YOUR SECOND WIND????

Under His Feet

Sometimes we ALL feel that we are swimming through a sea of troubles and trials, and are being tossed like a piece of debris in the ocean!!! It seems that we are going down for the last time. EVERYTHING seems to be over our head. When we are in this state, we need to remember that when it is over our head, it is STILL UNDER HIS FEET!!!

1) The Waters are under HIS feet: Matthew 14:25 tells of the disciples in the ship, that THE LORD SENT THEM INTO.  They ended up in a storm, tossed with waves and the winds. They were experienced fishermen and were doing all THEY knew to do to stay afloat.The Lord put them in this situation to bring them to the end of themselves. " They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end. THEN they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and HE bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm." Psalm 107:27-29.  At the fourth watch of the night, which is the darkest hour before dawn, THE LORD CAME TO THEM, WALKING ON THE WATER!! Just as He promised in Psalms, He will come to us when we realize we CANNOT DO IT ON OUR OWN!! When Peter saw the Lord walking on the water, he wanted to come to him and do the same. The Lord bade him come,and he walked on the water! It was under HIS feet, ONLY UNTIL he started looking at the problem again, the waves and billows around him, and not keeping his eyes on the SAVIOUR! When he did start to go down and CALLED OUT FOR HELP, IMMEDIATELY the LORD stretched forth His hand, and caught him, while the water was STILL under HIS FEET!! The Lord doesn't want the trials to hurt us spiritually or phyiscally, he wants them TO HELP US AND BRING US CLOSER TO HIM!!!

2) The Darkness is under His feet:  When there is DARKNESS all around, you cannot see your way, and it seems that all of the powers of HELL AND DARKNESS are fighting against you, it is ALL STILL UNDER HIS FEET. "The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.....In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, .....He bowed down the heavens also, and came down: AND DARKNESS WAS UNDER HIS FEET." Psalm 18:4, 6, &9. In the time of our darkness, we need to remember that the SON is always shining, just as David did when he wrote this Psalm.He had learned from the past that God will not leave His children in distress or darkness. When He comes to our cry for help, HE will vanish all darkness away and bring light and peace. "At the BRIGHTNESS that was before him his thick clouds passed away.. ." Psalm 18:12a. The rest of this chapter speaks of David's deliverance and joy, praising the Lord for what HE had done. This is the way we need to respond to the darkness of storms. May we ever call out when the darkness is pressing in on us, and the Glorious Light of the Saviour will cause it all to clear away when He steps down from Heaven!!! His foot crushing power (Gen. 3:15)  will stomp out the darkness, and the clouds will scatter as dust under HIS PRECIOUS FEET!!

3) ALL THINGS ARE UNDER HIS FEET!!!   No matter what our problems are, they are ALL under HIS feet!! There is not one thing that He is not in control of, and surely HE will NOT let one thing harm HIS CHURCH!! " And hath put ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET, and gave him to be the head over ALL things to the church.." Eph. 1:22. When we get a hold of this, and truly understand the POWER that the LORD HAS, and has given to the disposal of HIS CHURCH, we will be STRENGTHENED IN THE SPIRIT!!!  ONLY THEN will Jesus give us the VICTORY over our trials, fears, and best of all SATAN!! " And the GOD OF PEACE SHALL bruise Satan UNDER YOUR FEET SHORTLY..." Romans 16:20a.

Wherever the LORD has you today, whether you are in the stormy sea, or if darkness is all around:come to the END OF YOURSELF!   CALL OUT TO HIM, watch HIM come lift you out, give you light, and CRUSH ALL OF IT UNDER HIS PRECIOUS POWERFUL FEET!!!! 

The God of Love.....HATES??????

This statement may seem like an oxymoron, but it is true! God IS A GOD OF LOVE (I John :8), BUT He does HATE SOME THINGS!!  God is HOLY, and CANNOT LOOK UPON SIN, whether we are SAVED OR LOST!! ( I Peter 1:16). Proverbs 6:16 -19 gives us a list of these things. But by God's goodness and grace, the LORD gives us the remedy for these sins HE HATES! 

Proverbs 6:16-19 states, "These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an ABOMINATION unto HIM: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that  speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among the brethren." 

The Hated Sins:                                              

1: Pride            

The Loving Remedy:  "HUMBLE  YOURSELVES under the mighty hand God, and HE  shall LIFT you up." James 4:10

2:A Lying Tongue (about self) 

  The Loving Remedy:   " If we confess our sin, HE IS FAITHFUL AND just to FORGIVE US OUR SIN, and to CLEANSE US from all unrighteousness .If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and the truth is NOT in us."I John 1:9 & 10

3: Hands that shed innocent blood (murder-committed in act or in heart & mind) 

     The Loving Remedy:  " Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: we OUGHT to lay down OUR LIVES for the brethren." I John 3:16         

                                                   

4: Devising wicked imaginations    The Loving Remedy: " ...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK on THESE THINGS." Philip. 4:8

5: Feet that be swift in running to mischief    The Loving Remedy:  "Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you; (refrain and separate yourself from them) BUT " COME UNTO ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I WILL give you rest."I Peter 4:4& Matthew 11:28

6: A false witness that speaketh lies (on others)  The Loving Remedy:     "Speak NOT EVIL one of another brethren." James 4:11a "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." Romans 12:18

7: Sowing discord among the brethren:    The Loving Remedy   " But to do GOOD, AND COMMUNICATE (in the SPIRIT) forget not: for with such sacrifices God is WEll pleased." Hebrews 13:16. "And they CONTINUING DAILY WITH ONE ACCORD.." Acts 2:46a.

THE LORD'S LOVING REMEDY FOR ALL THOSE THINGS HE HATES:

"Finally, be ye ALL OF ONE MIND, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing: knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing" I Peter 3:8 & 9 

"LET HIM ESCHEW (Hate)  EVIL, AND DO GOOD; LET HIM SEEK PEACE, AND ENSUE IT." 

I Peter 3:11

Why Can't We??????

Bold as a Lion

Hey readers!!! I really appreciate ya'll following and reading my blog through the last three years. I never dreamed the Lord would bless in the way that He has!! I thank Him and give all the glory to Him. Now I am blessed to share with all of you that my son, Adam, that is 9 years old, feels led of the Lord to start a blog also. The Lord Showed Me a Tree.. (Poem)

The Lord Showed Me a Tree.....
I was walking along in the desert of Marah, had no peace within,
Feeling full of strife and sorrow, carrying a bitter load of sin.
On the outside I was athirst, only bitter water around did stall,
 It seemed all hope was gone; 
But then I heard a VOICE:  the Blessed Saviour's Call!

Then the LORD showed me a TREE- it was the Old Rugged Cross of Calvary! 
I cast it in my life that day, it took sin's bitter stains away,
PRAISE THE LORD, JESUS SET ME FREE!

This new WATER, OH HOW SWEET! To my soul brought great RELIEF! 
This TREE  Redeemed, Restored my weary pilgrim feet.
But it had been there all along!
  Now CHRIST brought life,  gave a new song! 
I moved to Elim there to rest, 
restore my soul, from that great test.
Now, by His wells I long to stay,
 and like the palms there I will sway,
Bow to HIS WILL, and HIS VOICE I'll obey!

All  because the Lord showed me a TREE! It was the Old Rugged Cross of Calvary!
Cast it in your life today, to TAKE sin's bitter stains away,
YOU'LL PRAISE THE LORD WHEN HE SETS YOU FREE!!

Leap Year-In the Bible?

We all know our calendar has 365 days on it, and we call this one complete year. BUT it actually takes earth 365.25 days to completely orbit the sun. If we kept our calendar unchanged, with no leap day, our seasons would not line up with the actual position of earth on it's orbit. The amount of time that needed to be off-set was a full day.  Scientists calculated this "missing" day into our calendars to balance it out. But our Lord created our planet in a perfect orbit and said that our seasons would never end (Gen. 8:22) so what caused this "missing" day and our calendar to be out of sync? The answer is found in the Bible!

In Joshua 10:12-14, Joshua was leading the children of Israel against the Amorites. Joshua cried out to the Lord, "..Sun, stand thous still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon,...". Vs 13 says "...So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down ABOUT a WHOLE DAY." Plainly here in Scripture, the Lord recorded that the Earth stood still, since the Sun and Moon didn't move in the sky, for ABOUT A WHOLE DAY, not a full 24 hours. So this accounts for almost all of the missing 24 hour day in our Earth's orbit. BUT there is another place in God's Word, that tells us the Earth's orbit was altered.

In II Kings 20:8-11 we have recorded that King Hezekiah was sick unto death. The Prophet Isaiah came to him and said the Lord would heal him. The King asked for a sign that this would take place. In verse 9 Isaiah told Hezekiah that the Lord would either make the shadow on the sun dial, or their clocks, move forward 10 degrees or either backward ten degrees, depending on which one the king would choose. The king chose for the Lord to make the sun move BACKWARD ten degrees, which the Lord did perform, as stated in verse 11. Ten degrees on a sun dial equals 40 minutes of time. This is the last portion of time that equals out the "missing"day from our Earth's orbit. Since we know for a fact that 10 degrees equals 40 minutes of time, then Joshua's "about a whole day" was 23 hours and 20 minutes, thus equaling exactly 24 hours!!! Listed PLAINLY IN SCRIPTURE is what the world called a 'MISSING DAY.' Only the Creator of our planet, THE LORD GOD HIMSELF, could alter the orbit of it, and HE chose to! So, leap day is another TESTIMONY that the Lord HIMSELF is the One in control, and one day soon, HE will cause TIME to be NO MORE! (Rev. 10:6). So let's not waste this 'extra' day we have, and use it to the glory of the LORD!

The Simplest Love Story

This post is not deep in the least. Just a simple thought that the Lord blessed me with while listening to the late Dr. Harold Sightler preach on Valentine's Day. What we consider to be a simple "child's"song contains the GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD. "Jesus Loves Me" is listed below, written by Anna Warner and William Bradbury in 1862. Let the words speak to your heart as it did as a child. The love of God is still just as simple, just as plain now, as it was then.

 Verse 1_

"Jesus LOVES ME, this I KNOW,
For the BIBLE tells me so,
Little ones to HIM belong, 
They are weak, BUT HE IS STRONG!!

Verse 2_
Jesus loves me, HE Who died,
Heaven's gates to open wide; HE WILL WASH AWAY MY SIN,
LET HIS LITTLE CHILD COME IN.

Verse 3_
Jesus loves me! He WILL STAY, CLOSE BESIDE ME ALL THE WAY!; THOU hast bled and died for me, I will henceforth LIVE FOR THEE!

 YES, JESUS LOVES ME, YES JESUS LOVES ME, YES JESUS LOVES ME, THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO!!!!"

I John 4:9&10 "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN  SON  into the world, that we might LIVE THROUGH HIM. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that HE LOVED US, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for OUR sins." 

Drunk Driving!!

We all know the danger of drunk driving-it can harm you and others and even kill. Certainly as a Christian, we should NOT BE GUILTY of this SIN! But, we CAN be guilty of Spiritual Drunk Driving, which is just as harmful, and even deadly!

1. Under the Influence-We can NEVER be too FULL OF THE LORD to make use drunk. We should CONTINUALLY give more and more of ourselves to the Lord."..to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace." Romans 8:6b. BUT if we don't give heed to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we make ourselves 'UNDER THE INFLUENCE' of the flesh, the world and even Satan."For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. .. So then they that are in the flesh CANNOT please God." Romans 8:5& 8. 

2. Swerving-If we allow ourselves to be under the influence of the flesh, we will begin to swerve. We if start following our lusts and desires, and teaching that is not SOUND DOCTRINE, we will begin to lose control of our vessel. "For the time will come when they will not endure SOUND DOCTRINE, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.." II Tim. 4:3. "..For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. ..A double minded man is UNSTABLE in ALL HIS WAYS." James 1:6b & 8. Since Satan knows he can't take the soul of the Christian, he tries to destroy the next most important thing we have: our testimony. He knows that if he can cause us to become unstable and inconsistent, it will damage our testimony with the lost. "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from HIM that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel, Which is NOT ANOTHER; but there be some that trouble you , and would PERVERT the Gospel of Christ." Galatians 1:6&7. "From which some having SWERVED HAVE TURNED ASIDE unto vain jangling: Desiring to be teachers of the law; UNDERSTANDING NEITHER WHAT THEY SAY, NOR WHEREOF THEY AFFIRM." II Tim. 1:8&7.

3.Wrecking- The last step in spiritual drunk driving is wrecking!!! "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have MADE SHIPWRECK." I Tim. 1:19. Leaving the Lord's leadership and sound doctrine can bring ruin to our lives, and even death! " Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth for sin: and sin when IT IS FINISHED, bringeth forth DEATH. Do not ERR my beloved brethren." James 1:15 &16. If we continue down life's road swerving all over the place and following our desires, we will ruin our testimony and if we don't repent, the Lord can,and will at His discretion, take us on home. (I John 5:16). 

As Christians, can we avoid this tragedy??? YES!!! The Lord has given us everything we need to keep on the straight and narrow!!  WE need to:
1) Stay under the influence of THE HOLY SPIRIT-"Draw nigh to God, and HE WILL DRAW NIGH TO YOU. Cleanse your hands ye sinners; and purify your hearts ye double minded." " And the peace of God, which passeth ALL UNDERSTANDING, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philp. 4:7.  "I have fought a good fight, I have FINISHED MY COURSE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH." II Timothy 4:7. May WE ALL PURPOSE in our hearts to finish our course without crashing!!!
